The Jewish World in 1945

Tuesday 22.06.2021

Summary

The Holocaust (Shoah) and its profound impact on both the Jewish and non-Jewish world. Before Hitler came to power, there were 18 million Jews worldwide, with 9 million in Europe. The Holocaust is unique in history as it was a deliberately planned policy of a modern, powerful state that harnessed its resources to annihilate a people. The Holocaust’s tragedy didn’t end with Hitler’s suicide, as the aftermath and liberation posed significant challenges and suffering for those affected.

The majority of the movie moguls were Jewish. There are very few films that come out in the thirties about what’s going on in Nazi Germany. At the end of the war, there are two films made and they were both made by non-Jews. The moguls went to Europe and saw what happened but they didn’t make films about it.
