Theodor Herzl: Zionism in Paris
Summary
When the journalist Theodor Herzl arrived in Paris in 1891, he wrote in his diary that he was in the centre of civilisation and that it would take the rest of the world a hundred years to achieve what had been achieved in France. What he failed to spot was the maelstrom swirling around the Jewish community. As correspondent of the Neue Freie Presse, he was there for the Dreyfus Affair. His response was to change the Jewish world forever.
