Monday 19.10.2026

How to watch

This lecture starts on 19 October at 5:00pm (UK).

Summary

Science played a huge part in the Enlightenment, which we have already encountered in the precursor to the Enlightenment and the Renaissance with Copernicus and Galileo. Today we focus on two giants : Newton, whose work transformed mathematics and physics and laid down the principles for future scientists to follow. Darwin, whose work posed big questions for religion and revolutionised our understanding of natural history.
