Summary
What happens when two identities people rarely imagine together exist in one body? Tristan Sampson-Yamoah explores the Black Jewish experience in Britain in a time of rising polarisation. Through personal narrative, he examines how racism and antisemitism are learned, internalised, and challenged, and why education and real-world exposure remain the most powerful tools for change.
Tristan Sampson-Yamoah
Tristan Sampson-Yamoah is a 20-year-old student at University College London (UCL) studying psychology with education. He previously attended JFS, the largest Jewish school in Europe. His mother is Moroccan-Israeli and his father is Ghanaian. He speaks from lived experience on topics of intersectionality, racism, antisemitism, and identity formation. Whilst at school, he delivered assemblies on combating racism upon several experiences of racial abuse, and has founded and captains a Jewish football team to build community and visibility. His work focuses on re-education, representation, and using real-world exposure to challenge prejudice.
