Sunday 21.09.2025

How to watch

This lecture starts on 21 September at 5:00pm (UK).

Summary

One of the most widely loved and respected conductors of the 20th century, Bruno Walter (1876-1962) lived through troubled times, fleeing Nazi persecution from Germany to Austria, from Austria to France, and finally on to the United States. In this lecture we hear him talking about, in his own words, his lengthy and illustrious career, and then treat our ears to studio recordings and broadcasts of some of his live performances.
