William Tyler
Forced Migrations: Africans, Australians, Indigenous Americans

Monday 12.05.2025

How to watch

This lecture starts on 12 May at 5:00pm (UK).

Summary

Not all migrations have been voluntary. In this powerful lecture we first examine the horrific trade in Africans transported into slavery in the New World. We also look at the beginning of the European colonisation of Australia by the transportation of convicts from Britain, and finally at the placing of Native Americans into reservations.
