Summary

During the Time of Troubles in Russia, the country faced a series of crises, including political turmoil, foreign invasions, and famine. The chaos led to a siege of Moscow, during which people resorted to extreme measures like eating horses, dogs, and cats. The lecture emphasizes the impact of the crisis on Russia’s social fabric and the harsh realities faced by the besieged population. The crisis eventually culminated in the election of Michael Romanov as the new czar in 1613, marking the end of the Time of Troubles.
