How to watch

This lecture starts on 2 December at 5:00pm (UK).

Summary

Marie Antoinette (1755–1793), wife of Louis XVI, and a figure of hate for the French Revolutionaries, remains reviled by many in France to this day. But was she as villainous as she was portrayed or merely a victim of circumstances beyond her control? Rosa Parks (1913–2005), by contrast, remains the hero of the early years of the Civil Rights Movement as she stood up for equal rights in the race-ridden South in the 1950s.
