Dr. Ludumo Magangane studied music at the University of Zululand, majoring in choral technique and music history. He founded and directed Kwa Tema Youth Choir and Bonisudumo Choristers. He was the musical director of the Sowetan Massed Choir Festival, where the various forms of Nkosi Sikelela iAfrika were sung. He is also the author of The National Anthem of South Africa, a book about the history of the South African national anthem.
