Florence Price and William Grant Still

Sunday 4.02.2024

Summary

Florence Price (1887-1953) and William Grant Still (1895-1978) were among the first distinguished classical composers of African American heritage. In a remarkable turn of events, a significant collection of Florence Price’s manuscripts was discovered in 2009 in her abandoned summer home. Concurrently, there has been a recent revival of mainstream interest in both composers.
