William Tyler
The Zulu Wars
Summary
The Zulu were one of the fiercest and most organised of Britain’s indigenous foes in Africa. The Zulu were an expanding empire until they met the also expanding British Empire in the second half of the 19th century. The war was bookended by a British defeat at Isandlwana and a British victory at Ulundi. The British went on to defeat the Boers, sending the Zulu into political decline. Today, the land they fought over has become a tourist attraction for British visitors.

Ultimately, very few. Very low thousands, very few people died. It’s quite different, and indeed, most of the imperial wars, very few people died. The Boer War tomorrow is different.
