William Tyler
Victoria Regina
Summary
A sweeping reassessment of Queen Victoria (1819–1901) and her historical importance. Did she make a political or cultural impact in any way? Or was she merely a figurehead of an empire she never visited?
William Tyler
William Tyler has spent his entire professional life in adult education, beginning at Kingsgate College in 1969. He has lectured widely for many public bodies, including the University of Cambridge and the WEA, in addition to speaking to many clubs and societies. In 2009, William was awarded the MBE for services to adult education, and he has previously been a scholar in residence at the London Jewish Cultural Centre.
With very few exceptions, she made almost no impact. She remained a figurehead of an empire that incidentally, she never herself visited.
The movement was led in part by Albert, not Victoria, and in part by local government, which was transformed in the Victorian Age.
