Patrick Bade
Impressionism, Part 2
Summary
Patrick Bade discusses the evolution of Impressionism over time. Looking back on the early years of Impressionism, Claude Monet said, “In those years we painted as the bird sings.” But as the Impressionists entered middle age in the 1880s they became self-conscious about their art. All of them went through some kind of crisis and moved off in different directions in the course of the 1880s. Part 2 of 2.
