Mark Gevisser

Mark Gevisser is one of South Africa’s most renowned authors and journalists. His previous books include the award-winning Thabo Mbeki: The Dream Deferred (2013); Lost and Found in Johannesburg: A Memoir (2014); and Defiant Desire: Gay and Lesbian Lives in South Africa (2013), which he coedited with Edwin Cameron. His journalism and essays appear in the Guardian, the New York Times, Granta, the New York Review of Books, and many other publications. He was born and raised in Johannesburg and educated at Yale. He lives in Kalk Bay, outside Cape Town.
